SPENCER CAMPBELL PHOTOGRAPHY
Mission boulevard runs like a seam through the East Bay, stretching from south Fremont to the the Hayward/San Leandro border, it’s a connective tissue that links commerce and residents alike. It’s an area that is in transition, where the past attempts to hold on, while the never ending sea of progress continues on.Gritty, Isolation, disrepair… these are some words that
came to mind when I was making these
photographs. But after viewing this exhibition, the
words I would like the viewer to take away are hope,
determination, perseverance and a willingness to
press on in times of uncertainty and constant
change.
Through my work, I investigate the relationship between the past, present and future in urban environments. By presenting a new lens in which to view the everyday and mundane, I hope to bring the viewer to a new level of understanding to the environments that surround them in their day-to-day lives.
